Quality Powertrain Product Development Quality Powertrain Product Development (PD) is part of a global organisation which designs, tests and releases for production all components and assemblies that make up powertrains and vehicles for use and sale worldwide. Our Technical centres, in Dunton and Dagenham, are the global centres of excellence for both commercial vehicles and powertrains. All of our graduates and engineers are recruited into specific roles with defined areas of responsibility and objectives; from the outset you will have a challenging role as part of our team. As part of this global team you may be required to travel to any Ford location worldwide. About the role: - The Powertrain PD Quality organisation works closely with our Engineering and Manufacturing skill teams who are committed to continuously improving our products. You will be working with both programme and engineering teams to drive the application of quality at every stage of the design, development and manufacturing processes. This will provide an unrivalled understanding of how a global engineering business delivers class-leading, customer-focussed products to a global marketplace. Within Powertrain PD Quality, you will be part of a global team implementing European designed powertrains around the world. The work is varied, challenging and interesting as we see our products rolled introduced to the European, North American, Asian and Eastern European markets. You will have a real opportunity to build working partnerships with colleagues at an international level. As a PD Quality Engineer with Ford of Europe, you will: - Translate customer requirements into design content and quality targets for new powertrain or vehicle programmes Understand the key quality metrics used to define customer expectations as well as vehicle quality performance in the field Apply quality tools and methods (including 6-Sigma) to ensure the product development process delivers a customer-focused product which meets defined performance and durability targets Apply data analysis and problem solving tools to help improve designs in the development process or from field concerns Manage Forward Model quality plans of powertrain and vehicle programmes to ensure key quality deliverables are met As part of the Powertrain PD Quality team you will need the following core skills: - A minimum 2:2 degree in Engineering Knowledge and passion about our business and our customers A drive for continuous improvement Ability to build strong relationships and be a team player Excellent communication skills A can do, find a way, attitude A positive approach and the ability to inspire others Experience of delivering high quality work to deadlines Creativity, initiative, diplomacy, self-motivation and self confidence If you are keen to work in an engineering organisation with a variety of challenging roles, then a career at Ford could be the perfect opportunity for you.
