Everyone in the business is passionate about delivering the best ever publishing. The HUK Group acts as a “seamless web” across our many independent and successful publishing houses supporting and enhancing all that we do whilst also protecting the business and its people. The independence and individuality of the various publishing houses are keystones to our loose federation. We go to great lengths to look after our employees and to give our authors the best service in the industry. We may be the UK’s largest publisher, but we are also the most familial. If you are enthusiastic about all things publishing, hardworking but looking for fun, then you will enjoy being on our team.
Hachette UK offers work placement opportunities to many individuals every year. Placements take place in a variety of functions (such as editorial, design, production, publicity, marketing, sales and rights) and across all our divisions. We are committed to ensuring that your time with us provides you with some of the valuable skills and experience needed to pursue a career in publishing. During the course of your placement we aim to provide the following: · General information on the publishing industry and how it operates; on the specific company and the division in which the placement is taking place. · An insight into the function of the department in which the placement is taking place. · The opportunity to undertake a range of tasks typically associated with entry level roles in publishing. · Advice and help in developing practical skills to aid your future career in publishing. Our work experience placements last for a maximum of two weeks and are unpaid, but we will offer reasonable travel expenses to travel to our offices. All of our upcoming work experience placements will be advertised on the Hachette UK Facebook page and the @HachetteCareers twitter feed. If you would like to apply, please send a covering letter and your CV to email@example.com identifying clearly in the subject field which placement you are interested in. IMPORTANT: We can only accept applications from people 18 years old and over and you must have eligibility to work in the UK.
